To Wet to mow???

Something any one who has ever had to maintain a lawn has had to deal with at some point and time. So.. When is your yard to wet to mow. The number one rule of thumb is if your mower is starting to sink and make ruts in the yard but by the time that has happened you have already messed up. What I have learned over the years in mowing lawns in iffy conditions the best sign that your yard is to wet is once you start seeing mud from the tires starting to end up on top of the grass and your start seeing muddy tire trails. Not ruts, but muddy tire lines from the ground starting to build up water and the soil turning muddy on the top layer. Once you see this it is time to stop mowing. This will not hurt the lawn rain will wash the mud away but this is a sign that your mower is soon going to start compressing the dirt and creating ruts. This is where you will start displacing the grass and damaging the roots. So remember once you start seeing mud it is time to put the mower away.
